When we arrived in Bari, we expected to visit a new country and improve our English. What we didn’t expect was to return home with so many unforgettable memories, new friendships, and a completely different perspective on Europe.
Every day brought a new adventure. At school, we met students from different countries, worked together in international groups, and exchanged ideas through workshops and the EU Debate. Discussing important topics such as sustainability, social issues, and the future of Europe showed us how much we can learn from one another, even when we come from different cultures.
Outside the classroom, we discovered some of the most beautiful places in southern Italy. Walking through the ancient streets of Matera, exploring the white trulli of Alberobello, visiting the charming town of Monopoli, and enjoying the atmosphere of Old Bari made us appreciate the country’s rich history and traditions. We also loved spending time at the beach, tasting local food, and learning about olive oil production and traditional bread-making.
One of the best parts of the mobility was living with our host families. They welcomed us into their homes, introduced us to their daily lives, and made us feel like members of their families. Thanks to them, we experienced Italian culture in a much more authentic way.
As the week came to an end, the farewell celebration and the tree-planting ceremony reminded us that Erasmus+ is about much more than travelling. It is about building friendships, respecting different cultures, and working together for a more sustainable future.
We came back to Spain with our suitcases full of souvenirs, but more importantly, with experiences, friendships, and lessons that will stay with us for a lifetime!
