Between February 9–13, our team of 7 students participated in the 5th mobility of the CREATE project within the Erasmus+ program in Spain. The partner school, IES Bernat Guinovart in Algemesí, Valencia, hosted the meeting and offered a diverse program rich in workshops, presentations, cultural visits, and environmental activities.
After the official opening of the program, the students had the opportunity to observe the host high school’s activities and were invited to take part in several workshops. As part of a cultural program, they enjoyed the artistic performance of the human tower “Muixeranga,” the most important tradition of Valencia. At the Ethnographic Museum of Algemesí, they were introduced to the tradition of the Festa de la Mare de Déu de la Salut, included on the UNESCO list, as well as to the origins of the Muixeranga tradition.
The visit to the historic center of Valencia, followed by a treasure hunt organized for the students, greatly delighted them. The program also included a visit to the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, where Mediterranean fauna and flora are reflected in the modern buildings of the cultural-scientific complex. As part of the ecological program, at the Science Museum, viewing the dinosaur exhibition taught the students about climate change and the influence of climate on the evolution of life on Earth. Also, within the ecological program, the Albufera lagoon revealed to them the natural and gastronomic values of the region.
The most important activity of this mobility was the presentation of 18 business plans for eco-companies, carefully developed by the participating students prior to the mobility. The activity was a great success, and diplomas for ingenuity and creativity were awarded within enthusiastic applauses from the audience. As it was carnival season, the students said goodbye at a carnival party, promising to meet again at the next mobility, in Italy.
