Day 2 in Košice

This day was both creative and educative.
Half of the participants proved that even from waste you can create something not only useful but also nice. They were provided with toilet paper rolls, plastic bottles caps, coloured paper, glue and other material. Their task was simple: to create pen holders. Both students and teachers worked very hard and created more than 50 penholders, each and every one original.

The other half of the participants wentb on an excursion to Kosit – Environmental Education Center, with the support of the city of Košice and the company NATUR-PACK. The center provides a FREE educational program for pupils and students on waste management. KOSIT a.s. cooperates with schools and organizes various educational events, competitions and collections that support waste sorting and environmental protection. We talked about waste and the climate crisis, how to separate waste, protect the nature if not to stop, at least to slow down the climate crisis. In the center they educate children from a young age how to deal with waste.
The excursion had two parts: first, there was a tour of the outdoor area of ZEVO (Waste Energy Utilization Facility), then a short break, a presentation and an envirogame in the indoor areas of CEV (Environmental Education Center). The entire program lasted approx. 2 hours. The tour also included a visit to the crane operator’s cabin on the 7th floor directly in the ZEVO building.

After lunch at the training kitchen at Nálepkova Street, both students and teachers headed for the city centre. Slovak students took the role of guides and showed the guests the sights and interesting places in the centre. The teachers were accompanied by a professional guide, Marcel Paulík, who took them on an amazing tour de city centre. The day was amazing, we accomplished many tasks and kearnt a lot about our city’s history in an interesting and funny way.
Thank you all!
