The students of our high school spent a wonderful week in Slovakia. The team took part in the third international meeting of the Erasmus+ CREATE project. Between May 12 and 16, the organizers offered participants a varied program, broadening their learning opportunities through extracurricular activities. The students had the chance to gain new experiences and make friends abroad.
The theme of the meeting was the environment, with all activities and visits aimed at raising awareness of ecological issues and strengthening environmental knowledge. During the workshops, students recycled paper and expressed their desire to create a cleaner environment through petitions. In digital activities, they designed posters on the theme “Save the Earth!”. After the opening ceremony, excitement grew as teams from the six partner countries took part in online educational game competitions. The games had been created by students using various applications before the trip. After watching tutorials, the games were put into practice during the competition. Participants were rewarded with diplomas and prizes.
The students also learned how recyclable waste is processed during a visit to the Kosit company near Košice. After discovering how paper and plastic are recycled, they visited the company’s facilities, where municipal waste is processed through incineration. After the visit, they attended an interactive presentation and took part in team-building activities organized by the company.
The adventure of the international team, consisting of 50 people, continued in the Tatra Mountains, starting from Starý Smokovec. Although the weather was unfavorable, the students enjoyed a pleasant walk in nature while admiring the beauty of the mountains. On the last day of the meeting, six fruit trees were planted—one for each participating country. The students from our high school planted a peach tree for future generations.
Exploring the city, participating in recreational programs, and spending time with the host students’ families gave participants the opportunity to get to know each other better. The third meeting brought them even closer together; friendships were formed, and by the end of the program, a united Erasmus team had emerged.
