As part of the Erasmus+ CREATE project, our school organized a special bonus activity under Work Package 4 (WP4). On April 13, 2026, a group of 21 students traded the classroom for the fresh air of Zahrada Blažejovce (The Blažejovce Garden) for an intensive excursion titled “From Soil to Strategy.”
The day focused on blending eco-friendly business planning with practical entrepreneurial competence, showing students that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand.
The day began with an introduction by the founders, who shared their journey of turning a passion for gardening into a viable business. Students were tasked with identifying the core problem the garden solves—such as the lack of local organic produce—and defining the farm’s unique selling point.
During a guided tour of the gardens and processing areas, the focus shifted to Sustainable Resource Management. Students observed how soil health is maintained without chemicals and debated the logistical differences between small-scale manual production and industrial methods.
In a hands-on session, students analyzed the farm’s diversified revenue streams, comparing direct farm sales to the dynamics of farmers’ markets. They also explored Product Development—learning how surplus vegetables are transformed into high-value products. In small groups, students drafted Mini-Business Plans for a new seasonal product, practicing financial literacy and creative problem-solving.
How does a small farm reach its audience? The group discussed branding and digital literacy, analyzing the garden’s social media presence. To help the farm grow, students brainstormed eco-friendly marketing hacks designed to boost visibility among the younger generation.
The excursion concluded with a marketplace simulation. While purchasing products directly from the farm, students observed customer relationship management in action, learning how the story behind a product is often its most powerful sales tool.
Key Learning Outcomes
The “From Soil to Strategy” program empowered participants to:
  • Spot Opportunities: Recognizing how to turn environmental passion into a legal, thriving business.
  • Leverage Sustainability: Understanding that eco-friendly is a powerful brand-building strategy and a competitive advantage.
  • Think Ethically: Learning to balance profit with a deep responsibility for the environment.
This WP4 activity successfully bridged the gap between ecological theory and entrepreneurial practice, leaving our students inspired to cultivate their own sustainable futures.
