Combining creativity and community outreach under the Erasmus+ CREATE project.
On December 22nd, as the term came to a close, 3rd-year ESO students from IES Bernat Guinovart marked the last day of class with a meaningful act of solidarity. As part of our ongoing Erasmus+ CREATE project, the students visited Cáritas Algemesí to hand-deliver 20 bespoke, hand-painted T-shirts created by their peers to celebrate Solidarity Day.
Beyond the presentation of these colorful gifts, the visit served as a profound learning experience. The staff at Cáritas gave our students an in-depth look into their daily operations—from providing psychological counseling and language classes to organizing essential food and clothing distribution for vulnerable individuals.
The team also shared poignant insights into their emergency response efforts following the recent DANA storm. They highlighted how crisis situations can suddenly force individuals who never expected to need assistance to turn to Cáritas, underscoring the vital importance of mental health support during times of hardship.
This visit not only strengthened our students’ understanding of social responsibility, but also reinforced the core values of empathy, cooperation, and community support embedded in the Erasmus+ framework.
