COOKING CLASS in Spring 2025…
Our 6 countries took part in an international culinary project: buying ingredients from local producers, then cooking one main course and one dessert, tasting, and scoring the dishes — all of which will be featured in an internationally edited cookbook.
We started this interesting local activity with Slovakia… on the 20th of March, students have prepared first the main course: Fliačky s hlávkovou kapustou. The dishes should be traditional connected to the history of Slovakia that’s why they used the two most common ingredients: potatoes and cabbage. Students then prepared the dessert from potatoes, flour, eggs and poppy seeds: Makové šúľance. So tasty!
Then, on the 28th of March 2025, in Czechia, they decided to prepare Wiener Schnitzels with Potato Salad and No-Baked Cheesecakes served in cups. They succeeded in preparing delicious lunch and desserts using the local products and healthy bio-ingredients.
In Romania on the 8th of April 2025 it was a fun and engaging activity for students in the school kitchen. Their recipes included beef stew with pickled cabbage and polenta, followed by sweet cheese dumplings, a traditional dessert. Yummy!
For Lithuania on the 14th of April 2025 it was a real challenge and nonetheless the cookery team overcame this task and enjoyed the final products!! Meat loaf Bunnies and Banana cupcakes were a success! 10/10!!! Good job!!
In Spain they organized a potato omelette contest. Then students prepared a typical dessert from Algemesí called fogassetes. At the end of the activity, 6 cooking books have been printed 5 of them have been given to the winners of the cooking contest and Miquel Turner won the potato omelette cooking contest!!
And in Italy with the help of a math teacher, who is also a fantastic cook, students were able to make fresh pasta called orecchiette using local flour and an exceptional tiramisù for dessert using fresh eggs from another local producer. At the end of the activity, students were thanked for their efforts and could taste the pasta and dessert instead of the simple sandwiches planned for that day! All work deserves reward!
As a memento of this culinary activity, the six member countries printed the recipes in a cookbook, which has now joined Felix’s adventures in our respective school libraries!
To remain environmentally conscious, the book is also available as a PDF!
