A few weeks ago I’ve had the opportunity to go to Spain in an Erasmus program. I was a bit anxious, since I’ve never been so far away from my family.
After a long and exausting travel we’ve arrived to Algemesí, where our hosting families welcomed us. At first I was really timid, it was a completely new environment, and different from what I am used to. My hosting student and her family were really kind. After some time I’ve become a bit more open and I could speak to them better. We’ve talked about many things, such as our cultures, cities and had good meals together.
In my opinion the programs were really good. They’ve showed us so many interesting places and exhibitions. I personally really liked the old buildings and churches. I was amazed at how much thought was put into the details on them and their designs. It was also really interesting to learn about the locals’ culture, history and festivities a swell. They gave us many tours in various museums and we’ve also tried local foods. But one of the best things was the landscape. The mountains and the beach were equally beautiful in their own unique way.
This project was a wonderful experience. I was to places I never thought I would ever get to and met kind, helpful and caring people. I’ve improved my English skills and I’ve learned how important it is to create connections with others. I am truly grateful for everyone who made this experience possible and I hope that I will get the chance to return to Spain again.
